Liliac – The Wine of Transylvania

Liliac is a modern Transylvanian winery built on respect for terroir, precision in winemaking, and a clear stylistic vision. Situated in the heart of Transylvania, our vineyards lie on rolling hills at the foothills of the Călimani Mountains, where altitude, cool nights, and long vegetation periods shape wines defined by freshness, balance, and elegance.
Transylvania is one of Europe’s historic yet lesser-known wine regions, with centuries of viticultural tradition. At Liliac, we combine this heritage with a contemporary, quality-driven approach. Our philosophy is straightforward: allow the vineyard to express itself, intervene only when necessary, and craft wines that are authentic, refined, and gastronomic.
Our estate vineyards are located in the Lechința DOC area, at altitudes between 400 and 600 meters, on a total surface of 52 hectares. The continental climate, influenced by strong cooling effects, ensures slow and even ripening, vibrant natural acidity, and aromatic precision. Diverse soils — including clay, limestone, and sandy components — enable us to match each grape variety to its most suitable parcel.
Liliac’s portfolio reflects both the identity and the potential of Transylvania. Alongside international varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Merlot, we cultivate emblematic Romanian grapes including Fetească Albă, Fetească Regală, and Fetească Neagră. Across all ranges, the common denominator is clarity of fruit, freshness, and balance, with structure and ageing potential where the style requires it.
In the cellar, we focus on precision and restraint. Vinification is carried out using stainless steel, oak barrels, and large-format vessels, depending on the desired expression. Transylvanian Oak is used sparingly and thoughtfully, always to support the wine rather than dominate it. Our aim is to produce wines that are approachable yet layered, suitable both for by-the-glass enjoyment and for fine dining.
Today, Liliac represents a contemporary vision of Transylvanian winemaking: open, internationally oriented, and uncompromising on quality. Our wines are present in key European markets and appreciated by professionals and consumers alike for their consistency, elegance, and distinct sense of place.
